Fetal Monitoring
Lay back and relax as you see the monitoring belts placed around the abdomen. These belts will monitor the uterine contractions and the baby's heart rate. This gives the caregiver important data about the baby's health and well-being while in labor. Listen as a mom shares her feelings of her unborn baby in the final hour before birth.

Prep for Delivery
Learn about the preparation steps in the operating room right before delivery. Topics covered include shaving and cleansing the abdomen, supplemental oxygen to breathe, IV administration, placement of the catheter tube. The father dressed in surgical attire takes his place beside the mother.

Anesthesia
Follow the step-by-step narration and filming of the procedure and protocols of epidural administration by an anesthesiologist. Learn about the benefits and side effects of anesthesia.

Cesarean Section Delivery

View a live c-section starting with the incision through birth of the baby and closure of the abdomen. Watch as the baby is taken to the warmer for his first assessment, foot printed and name bands placed on his wrists and ankles. Mom and baby share a special moment before his trip to the nursery.

Newborn Nursery
Take a tour with baby as he leaves the operating room and enters the transition nursery. Birth weights and measurements are taken as well as his first bath. Observe as he is given the Vitamin-K shot and preventative ointment in the eyes. Finally, baby can rest and receive his first feeding. Learn all about what takes place in the nursery.

Recovery Room
After the operation, mom will go to a special recovery room until she can move her legs and her vital signs (pulse, blood pressure) are stable. Within a few hours, she is transferred to a postpartum room where she will stay for the remainder of the visit.

Recovery Period
Learn about the healing process. You'll also find hints and suggestions for the well being of both mother and baby during the first few weeks at home.
